I get discharge, is this normal?
Yes, discharge is perfectly normal and there’s no need to be embarrassed about it. Most women get it at some point – it’s the body’s way of keeping the sensitive mucous membranes moist and clean. If you find it annoying, try using a pantyliner to stay fresh and dry.
If your discharge becomes thick, changes colour, smells unpleasant or is making you itchy, then this could be a sign of infection. A common problem called ‘thrush’ is a yeast infection often caused by your intimate area getting too hot (avoid wearing nylon panties, tights, or skin tight trousers every day). This is not a sexually transmitted infection, but an overgrowth of bacteria normally present. Most infections can be treated really easily, though it may be important to get them treated quickly, so have a chat with your doctor.
