Cramps and pain
Many girls and women experience pain during, or right before, their periods.
The pain is primarily caused by the uterus contracting in order to shed the uterine lining.
To soothe the pain, try putting a heated towel behind your lower back.
Painkillers with ibuprofen or ibuprofen combined with paracetamol can also help soothe the pain.
So can exercise, as the body releases endorphins during a workout. Endorphins are nature's own painkillers.
Others pamper themselves with a favourite book or film and a bowl of ice cream, drinking herbal remedies, or lighting scented candles.
Whatever helps you relax is a good thing. Find out what works for you, as there are no rights or wrongs here.
