      Gill Says:

Most women have discharges, to a greater or lesser extent, throughout their lives, but the amounts usually decrease once their periods have finished at around the age of 50.

      You asked:

    What colour are discharges?

      Gill Says:

Discharges look different depending on the point you’re at in your menstrual cycle. When you are ovulating, the discharges are transparent and heavy. Before and after menstruation, they’re whitish in colour. If the amount of discharge suddenly increases, smells bad or has blood mixed in with it, you should contact a doctor.

      You asked:

I usually get a discharge every day, and it’s very heavy. Is this normal? What should I do about it?

      Gill Says:

Yes, discharges are completely normal and come in varying amounts – a little one time, more another. Everything’s equally normal and there’s little you can do about it.

      You asked:
Is it normal to have heavy vaginal discharges during puberty?

      Gill Says:

Discharges are sign that your body is working as it should and that your body’s mucous membranes are feeling healthy. As long as they don’t smell unpleasant or you don’t have them in combination with itching, you don’t need to worry.
