      You asked:

Can you have a period without having had discharges first?

      Gill Says:

Yes you can, but most girls will probably have a little discharge, even if it’s not enough to leak out into your panties. When you dry yourself after you’ve urinated, you’ll probably notice a little mucus. That counts as a discharge, too.

      You asked:

    Are big labia abnormal?

      Gill Says:

Every girl’s genital region looks different. Just as boy’s penises look different. Women have both inner and outer labia, and in some women the outer ones are bigger than the inner ones, while in other women, the opposite is true.

      You asked:
Can you put on weight when you have your period?

      Gill Says:

Some women find their weight increases just before their periods. This is because your body retains water before a period begins. Once your period starts, you’ll get rid of the water when you urinate and your body will go back to its normal weight. Some women find their appetite increases and they have a sugar craving before their period starts, and so they put on weight as a result. You can prevent this by ensuring that you eat regular meals and that your diet doesn’t contain lots of sugar.

      You asked:

Is it normal to get vaginal discharges before you’ve had your first period?

      Gill Says:

It’s normal to get discharges for several years before having your first period. Increased discharges can be a sign that you’re soon going to have your first period.
